Dear Hotel Owner: Boutiques are Unique

Show how different and independent your boutique really is with our free in-room amenity, The Teaching of Buddha. Many fine boutiques already use our book and reap the rewards.

Peace and Calm in Every Room

Guests who stay at boutiques which place our free amenity in their rooms often thank the host and ask to keep the book as a permanent souvenir of their stay. That's fine with us; we are always happy to send replacement copies.

Why Our Book Makes a Boutique Hotel More of a Boutique

Owners or boutique hotels tell us our book is different enough to help their guests appreciate their stay as something truly unique.

Yes, Free Means Free

It's good to be skeptical about free offers, but for us, free means free. The books are shipped to you at our cost. We do not later ask for payments or donations to our cause. The only outreach thereafter is that we may check up on you once a year or more to make sure you still have enough books to share.

Who Are We?

We're BDK America. With BDK in Japan and other BDK offices worldwide, we have distributed over 8.6 million copies of The Teaching of Buddha, many in hotel rooms.

Why Haven't I Heard of You Before?

We started off slowly and quietly. We opened BDK America in the 1980s and slowly worked with select hotels. Over the last few years we have increased our presence at trade shows and calling directly on selected hotels. We currently belong to such trade organizations as the Boutique and Luxury Lodging Association (BLLA), the Independent Lodging Industry Association (ILIA), the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), and the California Lodging Industry Association (CLIA).

What's Your Connection to Boutique Hotels?

Unique and independent hotels started using our book decades back, before the boutique segment was as well-defined as it is today. We joined the BLLA when we saw some of our existing hotels were joining too!
