MORAGA, Calif. - On Saturday, May 14, BDK America hosts a special viewing of the documentary film, Hdden Legacy: Japanese Performing Arts in the World War II Internment Camps at the Moraga Library, followed by a short koto performance. The event starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, at the Moraga Library at 1500 St. Mary's Road.

Now Published: Maitreya and Manjusri Sutras

Moraga, Calif. - April 14, 2016. BDK America happily announces publication and availability of two sutras in the Mahayana canon, each on an important mythical figure. The volume includes both The Sutra That Expounds the Descent of Maitreya Buddha and His Enlightenment and The Sutra of Mañjuśrī’s Questions. 

Each in its own way is an important work in Indian Buddhism.

The Toshihide Numata Book Award in Buddhism (or “Toshi” Award) is awarded on an annual basis to an outstanding book in any area of Buddhist studies. The Award is administered by the Center for Buddhist Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
