June 17, 2017, Berkeley, Caif. - BDK America presents No Gate Tea's Summer Tea Party on Saturday, July 1 at BDK America's Berkeley facility.  The Open House event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is offered as "A day of immersion in Japanese Tea Culture." 

The potluck starts at 11:30 a.m., and guests are encouraged to bring a dish or drink to share. The tea sessions start around noon. Participation in the tea sessions are by sign up only and involve a fee of $25.

There will be two kinds of workshops: tea ceremony and tea cupping (three sessions each during the Open House). The sessions are informal: Come and go as you wish, ask questions, take photos, sit on chairs, and talk.

No Gate Tea will perform the Japanese Tea Ceremony. You will learn how to hold a tea bowl and more. You will be participating as a guest in this 500- year old tradition of tea serving ritual.

 

Japanese tea ambassador Reiko Wake from the Japan Tea Studio 108 will offer Japanese tea tasting and describe brewing methods. You will learn about different kinds of teas from Japan.

 

Japanese inspired ceramic artists will show their works. Meet them and learn about their Japanese Tea wares.

Please sign-up for the tea sessions by June 24. Children are welcome to join the party, but we don’t have a 'kids’ room'. You are welcome to visit us just for the pop-up gallery. let us know!
