Discovering the Japanese Way of Tea for Child and Parent

Part I, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Tea ceremony workshop for child and parent



The Japanese Way of Tea brings the principles of appreciation and respect toward each other into the parent-child relation.

This short version of workshop will review the basic practice of serving and being served in the Japanese Way of Tea setting. The workshop will begin with a demonstration of tea service where the participants play the role of guests.

Then the children will make tea for their parents, following step-by-step instruction of the sensei.

Tuition & fees: $30/ pair (limited to 4 pairs)

Potluck lunch 12:30 – 1:15 (no charge, please bring foods and drinks to share)



Part II, 1:15 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The Japanese Way of Tea workshop (all levels)

The workshop will begin with a short presentation and demonstration of the Japanese Way of Tea where you will play the role of the guest. Then, you will practice how to serve tea at a tea ceremony by following the step-by-step instructions of the sensei. No experience is needed. The participants are encouraged to ask questions about the history, culture, refinement and tradition of the classical Japanese tea ceremony.

Tuition & fees: $15 (limited to 8 participants)

Both workshops are conducted on chairs and tables rather than on the floor.
