2020 Numata Book Award Nominations: April 30 Deadline

Nominations are now open for the Toshihide Numata Book Award in Buddhism (or "Toshi" Award), awarded on an annual basis to an outstanding book in any area of Buddhist studies. The Award is administered by the Center for Buddhist Studies at the University of California, Berkeley

2019 Numata Book Award Presented

Congratulations to Paul Swanson of the Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture. Professor Swanson received the 2019 Toshihide Numata Book Award for the three volume publication, Clear Serenity, Quiet Insight: T’ien-t’ai Chih-i’s Mo-ho chih-kuan.



BDK 2020 Fellowships - Applications Open

Each year BDK International awards several fellowships to enable researches to engage in research in Buddhism while in Japan. Applications are now open for 2020 and will be due December 2, 2019.
